Wood:

There is a free supply of wood for necessary heating of the kitchen/hall.  You may wish to bring your own paper and dry kindling for ease of lighting.  N.B. Wood may also be used for one barbecue/cookout per camp the outside fire now needs to have a permit, which the custodian has, conditions of this must be run over with custodian before lighting the outside fire.

Kayaks:

Are available to Registered Schools and are free of charge. Kayaks are not available to any other groups. You will need to fill in and sign kayak hire form (located under school resources), if you are wanting to use the kayaks as part of your school camp.

We have 4 ocean river sit on kayaks and 4 cockpit sprite kayaks, there are 20 lifejackets to fit ages 10 to adult. It is safest to kayak in the inlet at the southern entrance to Mārahau, the kayaks may be carried along the road but if you have a trailer available it makes life much easier. Please do not drag the kayaks over rocks and sand, after use hose kayaks and life jackets and hang to dry.

Safety Dinghies:

There are two aluminium dinghies at the camp.  Some groups bring an outboard for the larger (12 foot) one when they use it as an essential safety backup for yachting. Rowing may be taught in the smaller one. Currently the larger dinghy is needing repair and isn’t to be used.
